Recently we got many problem regarding to update new version theme problem.
Our theme using 2 plugins together called themestudio-content and themestudio-shortcodes-v1.x for post type and shortcode so one you update the theme you need to update those plugins also.
Also in the theme we attached other required plugins such as Revolution Slider, Visual Composer.. those plugins can be updated via theme also.
There are some steps guide for you in order to install update theme and plugins easy and in the right way.
0. Backup your whole website or at least your custom work FIRST
This step make sure you keep the files, content that you have edit before, just in case the next steps fail.
We recommend to activate CHILD THEME to customize so your works will be reserved when you need update.
1. Deactivate current theme version.
Just go to Dashboard >> Appearance >> Themes, active another theme, by this way you have just deactivate the current theme.
2. Delete the old version theme.
Simply click on the theme and delete it.
3. Deactive and delete old plugins
Go to Dashboard >> Plugins check and deactive the old plugins then delete them
4. Install new version theme as usual
Go go Dashboard >> Themes >> Add new
Do upload theme just like install a new theme.
Note: If you have purchased the theme, you can go to Themeforest and download it without any paid again.
5. Active update theme and install new version of required plugins:

I have followed the above steps to install Alaska 1.6.
Problems appears when to install the plugins.
When click on install I get redirected to our homepage.
I should be redirected to credentials logon.
Two of them will not be installed and now our homepage looks like crap.
See attached screenshot for the plugins I having problems with.

The files from themeforest are completely broken as of 12 September 2015 referenced as version 1.6. I have tried to upgrade from version 1.4. Its completed broken, the Alaska theme options don’t even display in the WordPress dashboard anymore and the something is fatally wrong with displaying the them correctly.
Is it the case 1.6 is not backwards compatible or the files at Themeforest are broken?2 years, 11 months ago mic123dParticipant

I have also just updated my theme and it broke everything. My child theme didn’t work, the Alaska Options in the admin panel disappeared, and the menu stayed open so you could see every menu item at once.
I have restored to an earlier backup so that at least my site is functional. Is this a known bug and will it be fixed please?2 years, 11 months ago activetech_rmParticipant
I had the same issue updating. All I want is the blog pagination fixed.
Does anyone know what code I need to modify to achieve this? Author suggested upgrading to 1.6 (from 1.3) which fixed the pagination but broke the rest of the theme as everyone has been describing!

Regarding to the layout, you can see the fix here:
Make sure you have update these plugins:
You can update it as these steps:
1. Activate a default theme.
2. Go to Plugins, deactivate ThemeStudio Shortcodes and Delete it.
3. Activate back to Alaska theme.
4. You’ll notice to Install that plugin, install it.

I get an error trying to re-upload the theme. is there another way to install
I think this is due to the very large size . I am on a shared host provider so I am limited by the PHP upload size. Could that be causing the issue?
Hi sonicdivx,It might likely your host haven’t configured properly.
You should configure following parameters before uploading data:
upload_max_filesize = 64M post_max_size = 64M max_execution_time = 300You can find this useful:
